IIT Status to CUSAT

Holy Cow, in a news that kinda shook me and at the same time given quite some people happy faces, the Union Government has given CUSAT IIT Status!

Now, that certainly gives the colleges/schools of CUSAT quite something to cheer about! Apparently has been on the cards for about a year now! :-D!

Centre awards CUSAT IIT Status…

  1. It is really happy news to both parents, students , teachers and public that name IIT (Kochi) is conferred on CUSAT out of 200 odd colleges selected in the first place !Its very ideally located to benefit students from Kerala and all the southern most parts of the neighbouring state. All the efforts of CUSAT to achieve academic excellence has yielded the results! Best wishes IIT(Kochi). The Kerala Govt ,CM Oomen Chandy,Ministers MP s,VC cusat, teachers and CUSAT students need to be congratulated!!!The right decision of UPA Govt at the right time is to be welcomed.may the Almighty Bless the new IIT and its students!!

  2. Yup! I agree! CUSAT has indeed come a long way! :-D! I wish I had now taken the decision to join CUSAT, when I had the option ;-)! Anyhoo thanks for the comment!

A word of advice tho – MoneyLion seriously sounded like a name of a spammer, so just be careful as some of your comments may get deleted if you are unlucky and the spam filter decides to delete ya off!

  3. Keralites are known to be regional chaunvinistic. In its new avatar, CUSAT will have to follow the open policy of admitting students from all over India through an all-India examination JEE. And, it is quite known that the exam see more successful candidates who come from northern states like Rajasthan, Bihar, Delhi etc. and the lonely southern state Andhra Pradesh. In a few years, IIT Kochi will be host to north Indians and others and definitely not keralites.

How is an average Keralite who is brought upon ‘me and my Kerala’ diet will stomach this poison?

    I wonder!

  6. For some of the doubts raised above…I’d like to clarify that CUCEK i.e the Kuttanad campus is an integral part of CES,CUSAT and the name ( Cochin University College of Engineering) shows that the status will be conferred to it also…however the university palns to bring both campuses under one umbrella in Cochin itself with the kuttanad campus being given to the fisheries and marine sciences division in the long run.The MHRD and the IIT team that visited CUSAT for its final report also visited the Kuttanad campus bearing in mind that its an integral part of Centre for engineering studies. All other colleges who are affiliated to CUSAT will be affiliated to some other university once the IIT/IIST status is granted to CUSAT.

  9. Guru!

How are you? Please refer to your comment on somil’s addressing your roomy as Sir.

It is customary to address the senior in college as ‘Sir’. Wasn’t the practice in Chitra Thirunaal Eng.College when you were there.

The senior fellow may even be younger to one, if one has taken more than one attempt or two, in the entrance examinations and entered the college, and the so-called senior has entered it in a single attemtp. So, he is either of your age, or maybe, one year younger to you. Still, the customary rule that is strictly imposed during the four-year residency at the College, is to address the chotaa ‘senior’ as bada ‘sir’!

Therefore, the junior to your roomy, is following the dreadful custom. We cant help it.

    Regards.

Not really ! All of us believed that every single person has a contribution to humanity and hence everyone was treated equal, independent of senior / junior.

Well, that is a reason I just made up! Other than that, this is not any college, but my personal blog. I would assume that the choice should be left up2 me as to how someone addresses anyone in my blog =)!

    Thanks for the comment tho!
