The trick to finding an organizing system is to find something that works okay for you, and then stop. Incremental improvements in organising systems are, more often than not, just a black hole: a black hole that’s particularly tempting to geeks, because they’re so much more comfortable at constructing and optimising systems, rather than operating them. Most people don’t need to learn this lesson, because most people are more conservative about systems. Old, dependable but slightly flaky systems are comforting to most people, not upsetting.
