Outcomes are uncertain. Our effort isn't. The truly enlightened will reach a situation where there's no want for a specific outcome. However, if you are still on the path to enlightenment (like me), you need to internalize - effort's all you have control over.

Given effort's all we control, we need to flip the game. Now, the game becomes, how might we repeatedly ensure conditions where the outcome we want could happen?

Want to get a memorable photo? We need more reps shooting.

Want to get that promotion? We need more reps shipping and telling your story.

Want to be a good orator? We need more reps speaking.

Want to be a writer? We need more reps writing. (oh hai)

Not every rep is going to be a success. There will be challenges along the way. Yet, all we have control over is putting in the reps. And repetitions make things easier.

So, we make them harder (progressive overload).

Doing the same thing can be boring. So, we try different variations (creativity).

Instinctively, but also quietly, we start to love the effort.

Soon, not putting in the effort feels dissatisfying.

Then, in a passing moment of reflection, we notice that outcome we wanted already happened. Heck, in my experience, the outcomes far exceed what we dreamed could be possible.

Yet, we are readying ourselves, giddy with excitement on how we are going to change up the reps today!
