Gemini 3.1 Pro is excellent. The access story around gemini-cli and pi is not. That is the part that keeps biting me.

I want the model. I do not want the fence around it.

Google is at its best when it ships useful primitives, not rituals. Search, Gmail, Photos. Tools that stay out of the way and still hold under load. The more it turns into an interface tax, the more I drift toward codex and other tools that let me keep my own shape.

pi is still my preferred harness. I want to use Gemini models with it. For now I adapt, because the work does not wait. But the clock on patience is real, and it is not a generous one.
