A video on LaTex
Source: im sorry
This is a video after my own heart. In the early aughts, I learned how to write LaTex because I thought I was going to go to graduate school and then get a doctorate. I was also inspired by The Art of Computer Programming and inspired by Knuth and others really wanted to study in Stanford.
So, I wanted to learn how to typeset my papers very well. But then I learned html, discovered markdown and never really went down the path of academia.
However, LaTex is what gave me the itch to typeset, which led me to learn about desktop publishing, learn about font rendering, adore a Mac, and the rest as they say is history.
Btw, what Angela says about the separation of content versus formatting - this is a sneakily important thing that’s critical for the writing process. It’s also what I particularly like about writing in Markdown.
