No Constraints
Just read this from baty.net
All this to say that the conflict between running macOS, Linux, or both is still a thing. As troublesome and complex as it can be, I think the answer will always be “both”. Surely I can manage it, right? Maybe if I only use the laptops for simple things like blogging, browsing, or journaling, things will be easy enough. I’ll never be able to settle on one or the other. Just admit it.
I’m on the couch typing this in Emacs using the Framework, both things I told myself a week ago that I’d stop doing. My stupid brain is always mucking things up.

I could totally relate to this feeling. Where you kinda always feel uncertain and dissatisfied thinking there is a “better” - a more “optimized” situation.
I am hoping baty doesn’t face this but I used to find this constant thrash grating and super unproductive. Even a minor distraction of a what-if will take me away from my work and into trying the other way because the font is rendered better, or the keyboard is better there or the mouse behaves better here. etc.
Right now, that’s five machines: one Linux desktop, two Linux laptops, one Mac desktop, and one Mac laptop. Yes, that’s too many, but it is what it is.
if and it’s a big if, baty finds the distraction similar, it’s related to having too many options or better phrased a lack of constraints. You see, it’s proven time and agsin that embracing the constraints and not making our life too easy, convenient is the secret to a more satisfied living.
Turns out, human beings kinda like the hard work and suffering associated with life and an overly convenient life actually makes us ungrateful and wistful for something more.
Anyway, just some random thoughts on a Sunday as I keep reminding myself that not everything should be too convenient.
