It feels like everyone (or at least those in my bubble) is consumed by the “how” of note-taking. Tools, workflows, processes, backlinks, and on and on. Obsidian? Roam? Paper? It’s fun to explore and interesting to read about and there is no end of things to distract myself with.
[Repost] My new notetaking system: Don't take notes
None if it really matters, though. We endlessly split hairs and wring our hands and gaze at our navels over irrelevant minutiae around taking notes. It’s exhausting.
Lol. Some days I totally feel like this. However, moving back to pen and paper has made a big difference. In my humble opinion, I believe over optimization is a potential flaw of digital note taking. However, ignoring that part, the biggest draw of digital note taking is this idea that a universal archive somehow becomes a magical thought connector. At least for my brain, this happens more when it's not just consuming but actually doing the thinking. I've also found that when it comes to the actual thinking, having a pen and paper works better because of the ability to quickly flip back and locate.
